Description
Data Overlayer, as its name suggests, has the capability of generating overlay graphics using data
retrieved from external sources, including: MySQL databases, Text and XML files, RSS internet feeds, etc. Professional overlay generation of live data (weather, sport, voting, product sales, stock market, etc.) is not only possible... it's simple too - whether you are streaming live to the internet, broadcasting for television, or editing pre-recorded footage.
Up to -NEW- 5 overlays can be generated with up to -NEW- 6 Data Items per overlay, using any Data Source mode: Text, Image, or module specific (Query, Field, Tag, etc.). Each Data Item can display up to -NEW- 25 values - controlled by a Limit parameter - for example, to extract the top 10 values from a database. The Sequential mode allows data to be displayed progressively, for circumstances when you want to display a lot of data a few values at a time. Overlays need not only display data, they can also be used to quickly display custom graphics for: intermissions, technical difficulties notices, sponsor logos, or anything else you might need.
Numerous overlay generation options allow for independent control of each Data Item's character generation using: -NEW- 10 customizable Font styles (font, color, size, border, glow, etc), shadow generation, and positioning (x/y, justification, spacing) of image and text data. And a live WYSIWYG Preview makes it easy to adjust these settings to fit with custom graphic backdrops.
Built-in Interval and Hold Timers automate the retrieval and display of data. Or, a continuous display option keeps overlays live all the time - updating at a defined interval. The Update modes also allow overlays to be updated Manually, or automatically when the Video Toaster Switcher Input* is changed, or when a Text/XML file changes with the File Monitor mode.
Variable substitution in Data Items allows easy display of the date and/or time, and enhances Video Toaster support by allowing Data Items to be generated based on the current Switcher input*. -NEW- Four User Defined (UD) variables allow Data Items to be quickly modified without worry of accidental typos while editing them. And multi-line text support is also included with the ability to define the pixel spacing between lines. -NEW- This pre-processing is supported by all Modules.
The Time Remaining Clock overlay with -NEW- selectable Font style is useful in applications such as shopping television shows.
If, at any time, you want to change settings without worrying about mistakes being broadcast, you can easily switch from Broadcast mode to Preview mode. If the status area indicates L I V E, that's to let you know that an overlay is currently broadcasting, in case you want to wait for the timer to automatically turn it off. However, you can also change most settings while broadcasting.
Direct control for the Video Toaster Switcher is included to automatically initiate a downstream key over video. A variable speed Fade* can also be used for bringing the overlay on/off.
With query based modules, such as MySQL, the ability to associate graphics with data means that you can generate overlays based
specifically on live events. For example, a weather based overlay could display a snow graphic, if the data indicates that
snow is expected, or a sun graphic if that's appropriate. Or, for sporting events, a query result could specify a flag graphic to match an
athlete's country.
The included Text and XML modules are ideal for accessing data from sources that are not (yet) directly supported. For example, Microsoft SQL Server's Data Transformation Services can be configured to automate output of data to a text file at regular intervals. Modules can also be custom developed by us to support other data sources, such as the serial port. Contact us for more information.
